About michael Roden, M.ed., lpcc
I have been counseling all kinds of individuals for all kinds of problems (depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, ADHD, etc.) for over 20 years. My goal is to help people of all ages to cope better and then to thrive.
We start with a diagnostic assessment where we begin to identify the problem(s), gather your history, and get a sense of your goals. Everything is individualized and geared toward your individual needs and goals.
Next, we make a plan for treatment, and then implement it. I believe in a warm, non-judgmental, and holistic approach to therapy that empowers each individual to achieve their best and happiest self.
For the past several years, I've been specializing in treating individuals with bipolar disorder. The extreme ups and downs can make you feel like two different people at different times. The key to stabilization is a kind of integration whereby the positive aspects are maintained while the negative are dissolved.
Often such individuals have what we therapists call "co-morbid" diagnoses--two or more problems that can feed off each other. It is particularly important in these cases to identify the real underlying issues. In such cases it takes real experience to sort it out and help you lessen the confusion.
I have a Master's degree in Counseling from Kent State University. I am licensed as a Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC and PCC) in the State of Ohio. I have spent over 25 years of experience counseling in various agencies throughout Ohio.
If you or your child see a doctor for medication, I can work with the doctor to help treat you more accurately.
I employ many different techniques in therapy, depending on the person and situation, including but not limited to CBT, ACT, motivational interviewing, mediation, and brief solution-focused. Other things that can help in certain cases include relaxation exercises, humor, and spirituality.
